Probably depends on where you live. Here in the UK no-one mentioned it to me yesterday and there was a wedding at the local church in the morning.

at facebook, i just saw the photos of a jw wedding that took place today (9/11) i would not want to get married on 9/11.

are the feinds really following the counsel not to holds or cuddle during the prayer?.
has there been any additional counsel on this subject?.
or is it being ignored?.
Two sisters near me hold hands during the prayer, don't know if that counts though!

Ed - Just to add they are not related sisters, and they are both widows.
i posted this rant on my notes on facebook.
why i have no idea... (maybe because i am reading the facebook effect about that company).. are you sick of your job?.
someone recently told me that i should be glad i have a job.
We want to get married, but she is going back to school and jobs are scarce around here.
I can relate to your position as I was raised a JW with its no education policy. However, as soon as I got married we made plans for me to go to Uni which I did. I also moved to the south coast and got a good job where I stayed until I retired.
I think your other half is doing the right thing going back to school, education is everything in my opinion. If need be consider moving area, not easy but can be worth it in the long run.
Do not waste your time complaining about Bush, Obama, Blair, Brown, the economy or the company. You have to make your own future, and by the way don't plan on Armageddon coming any time soon.

i never understood the convoluted "reasoning" on standing for the pledge of allegiance but sitting for the national anthem .... your thoughts or experiences, please.. thank you.. cc.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/198711/1/i-will-sit-no-more-forever.
*** w02 9/15 p. 24 “Salvation Belongs to Jehovah” ***
When national anthems are played, usually all a person has to do to show that he shares the sentiments of the song is to stand up. In such cases, Christians remain seated. If they are already standing when the national anthem is played, however, there is no need for them to take the special action of sitting down. It is not as though they had specifically chosen to stand for the anthem. On the other hand, if a group are expected to stand and sing, then merely standing up out of respect but not singing would not constitute sharing in the sentiments of the song.
However, just 5 years previous, a report about an Indian court:
*** w87 11/1 p. 21 Religious Freedom Upheld in India ***
In a landmark decision the court said: “We are satisfied, in the present case, that the expulsion of the three children from the school for the reason that because of their conscientiously held religious faith, they do not join the singing of the national anthem in the morning assembly though they do stand up respectfully when the anthem is sung, is a violation of their fundamental right ‘to freedom of conscience and freely to profess, practice and propagate religion.’”

i hate to ask you good folks to jump around but the first post in the thread below explains why i'm going into the jc meeting, hence the basis for my questions below.... http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/198636/1/reply-to-judicial-committee-question-thenoblelodge.
i have no idea how to present my witnesses.
they've already agreed to show up.
So what happened?

I sat down when they played the National Anthem at my graduation. I felt utterly embarressed and decided I would never do that again. It showed total disrespect.
Some time after this I understand the 'instructions' were modified. If you were already standing you need not sit; if you were seated when the NA started you should not stand! What sort of logic is that!!??

elders were famous for making up stupid rules with no bible base at all as an ego trip i guess, what were some of yours?
i am not talking about the stupid rules that we all had to follow, just the congregation specific silly ones.. 1. having to button your jacket while on stage (this was later changed due to all the elders having a beer gut).
2. suits only or no privledges.
It must be pretty laid back here in old Blighty compared with what I have read here!
Over the years I have had moustach, beard, long sideburns, long hair, very short hair, sports jacket, checked sports shirts, leather jacket, two door cars, two seater sports cars, motorbikes, etc.
In my current congregation sisters wear fishnets, bare legs, open toe shoes, very high heels, low cut tops, short shirts (even when on platform!)
No-one seems to bother. Probably a case of having to make do with what you have. If all these were counselled and removed from 'privledges' there would be nobody left.

We have a clear out of personal magazines and unplaced public magazines once a year when the volumes arrive, put them in the recycling box.
I always fancied putting all my old volumes on e-bay and making money from them when I finally leave but that idea took a blow this week. Someone tried to sell 27 volumes of WT and Awakes starting at £4.99. He never got a single bid! He has re-listed them again.

i find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?
1975 was raised briefly last night in the Service Meeting item from the Reasoning book.
However it is now 35 years ago. The younger members of the congregation don't remember it of course, the older members don't care.
George
i bet people has forgotten me but thats ok because i know they have helped me a lot on here.. .
anyways i think the last time i been on here i mentioned my jw sister not going to my wedding.
for those that do remember my story, the wedding was beautiful on the beach in key west, fl!
How do you and your new husband feel about having the WTS in bed with the two of you, telling you what you can and cannot do?
